{Pasco School District} PASCO SCHOOL DISTRICT IS:

Pasco School District
is the heart and centerpiece of the fastest-growing community in Eastern Washington and serves approximately 14,000 school children from the City of Pasco and unincorporated Franklin County. Since 2000, student enrollment increased almost 3,700 students, or an average of over 525 new students a year.

There are 19 campuses
in the district: Seven elementary schools (K-5), four elementary schools (1-5), one early learning center (Kindergarten), three middle schools (6-8), two four-year high schools (9-12), an alternative middle and secondary school (6-12), as well as the Washington State's first high school focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)--Delta. Since 2000, the school district has built three new elementary schools and one new middle school.

{teacher} For the 2009-10 school year, the district opened three new schools. Chiawana High School; Captain Gray Early Learning Center; and the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) high school, Delta. Chiawana is a comprehensive high school that houses 9th-12th-graders graders, except for the first first year when it will house 9th-11th-graders. The Early Learning Center houses approximately 500 kindergarten students as well as the district's Parent Education Center, The Children's Learning Center, and the Guided Language Acquisition Development (GLAD) professional development program. Delta opened its doors this year to approximately 100 freshman.

About 73% of Pasco’s students are minority, including Asian or Pacific Islander (1.4%), African-American (3%), American Indian or Alaskan Native (0.5%), and Hispanic (69%). About 71% of all students come from low-income households and about 4,800 are learning English as their second language.

Our students are taught by over 1100 teachers, librarians, and counselors and supported by over 900 people including bus drivers, custodians, secretaries, nurses, cooks, home visitors, crossing guards, and librarian clerks. There are 100 school buses to deliver students to school and home again every day traveling over 1.4 million miles a year.
