4th Grade Chess Club takes 1st again
students with trophy
Ms. Nelson Dear Robinson Parents,

Thank you to everyone who has participated in our ATP events! The turnout has been wonderful and we enjoy seeing everyone come and participate!   We are coming up on conferences again and those requests will be coming out soon. Please return them as quickly as possible with your student!

Celebrating Chess Club!

On March 1st our Chess team shined brightly at the tournament. We had a total of 11 students take home trophies for placing, 12 of them qualified to participate in the State tournament in May and our 4th graders took 1st place again! We are very proud of our Chess club and thankful to their mentors, Mr. Cruz, Mr. Arreola and Mr. Brazington. Stop by and see our collection of trophies in the cabinet up front.  Onto State!

Amazing support of the penny drive

It never ceases to amaze me how giving our families and students are here at Virgie Robinson. As you know, one of our teachers has been very ill this year and when we decided to raise funds to support him and his family, the response was phenomenal! We were able to give the family $3040.00! Thank you again for the pennies you sent…they are much appreciated.

Practicing Safety Drills

Once a month we practice our safety drills to ensure that we are prepared for any safety situation. These include Fire Drills, Lockdown Drills and Shelter in Place Drills. For the Lockdown and Shelter in Place drill we lock all the front doors in order to keep all possible “intruders” out of the building. On the days that we practice these, the office will place notices in the door that we are practicing such a drill. As soon as we have completed the practice we will begin letting people in again!

If such a drill were to happen at the end of the day please be advised that we cannot release students until the building has been cleared by the fire department or the police. In such cases we

notify the busses and they wait until the children are released.

Testing season

It is upon us! The best support a parent can offer their child during this time is to ensure that students are going to bed on time and eating a good breakfast in the morning. Encourage your child to try their best no matter

what! Please watch for flyers with information on the tests that your child will be taking.

Updating Contact Information

Anytime your phone number or address changes please make sure to stop by the office and let us know or send a note with your child. It is imperative that we have a working phone number for you in case of emergencies.
