Welcome to Captain Gray

Principal Docken

Dear Parents,

Kindergarten is a unique and important time in the life of your child.  Your child is just beginning his/her journey into formal schooling, which includes being introduced to everything from new concepts to new friendships. I would like to welcome you and your child to Captain Gray Early Learning Center.  With the first day of school approaching soon, your child is probably getting excited to start school.  Much like the children, the staff and I are anxious to begin a new school year with an enthusiastic group of eager learners.  Additionally, we are excited to offer an all day program for all of our students.  We have planned many wonderful opportunities to enhance your child’s learning and strive to provide every child a positive experience during their first year of school.

The first day of school for all students is on Tuesday, August 28th.  For the first two weeks of school, students will be released at 12:25, except for Wednesdays.  On Wednesdays, they will be released at the regular Wednesday dismissal time at 1:35.  Please plan accordingly to make appropriate arrangements for your child.  After dismissal, teachers will be meeting with parents and assessing each student’s academic skills.   The information gathered from this assessment will be used to monitor student progress throughout the year and help us meet individual student needs.  You will be contacted to schedule an appointment for your child.  Monday, September 10th will be the first full day of classes, with dismissal at 3:45.

On Monday, August 27th from 4:30-6:00, you are invited to visit the school to meet your child’s teacher and gather important information.  This will help provide a smooth transition for your child on the first day of school.   At that time, you may pick up your child’s identification tag and confirm that the bus or pick up information is accurate.  Additionally, staff will be available to answer questions you may have.

Sincerely,

 Ms. Kristi Docken, Principal
