Dear Parents and Guardians of Seniors:
Graduation is getting closer and we know this is an exciting time for you and your student(s). In my 32 years in the field of education, I have been fortunate to be a part of many celebrations as students have reached this milestone in their lives. Unfortunately, however, I have also been a part of some heartbreaking times due to poor choices made by some students. We are asking that parents work with us as we get through these next few weeks to make sure there are happy endings for all.
First, please continue to watch grades and attendance to make sure your student is making a strong academic finish. I have seen some students actually sabotage his/her graduation at this point in the game because he/she is afraid to move on to that next step in life.
Second, we are very worried about decisions that are being made regarding drinking, drugs, and other inappropriate behavior. Because we are so worried about the ramifications of this behavior, the Pasco School District will take any infraction of this nature very seriously and it may impact a student's ability to walk in the graduation ceremony on June 1.
Your student will bring home a contract after senior boards on Tuesday (May 14) or Wednesday (May 15) that must be signed and returned by you and your student before signing up for a seat for the graduation ceremony. Please go over the contract together and understand that any legal or school discipline infraction between now and June 1 could result in loss of graduation priveleges.
Sincerely,
Teri Kessie, Principal
