Dear Parents:

The “No Child Left Behind” (NCLB) Act requires parents of English language learners (ELLs) participating in Washington’s Transitional Bilingual Instructional Programs (TBIP) and/or Title III programs to be notified each year of Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAO) for the school district.  The state of Washington notified the district of its AMAO results for the 2009-10 school year.

Below is a description of each AMAO target:

AMAO-1: Annual increases in the number or percentage of children making progress in learning English.

AMAO-2: Annual increases in the number or percentage of children attaining English proficiency.

AMAO-3: The number or percentage of ELL students meeting AYP targets in reading and math on the WASL.

The Pasco School District’s AMAO results for the 2009-10 school year are printed below:

Met AMAO 1:  Yes

Met AMAO 2:  No

Met AMAO 3: No
