The first day of school is here…Have you heard? The teachers have cleaned, organized and planned for an exciting year of learning. Many have attended specialized training just to meet the needs of our students in the areas of Common Core State Standards, Washington State Career and Technical Education, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), Math instruction and many more! We have a few new faces on campus: Becky Rivera, our attendance clerk; Jessica Kurtz, English teacher; Randy Fairfield, Middle School LA/SS. Please give them a big New Horizons welcome! We are very fortunate to have them joining our dedicated staff! It was a busy summer around here, our FFA student attended the Benton Franklin Fair showing and selling a pig—many thanks to Mrs. Travis for her amazing enthusiasm, hours spent supporting our student and her willingness to take on new activities. Two lucky FFA students spent the week at Central Washington University attending AgWeek where their teams placed in the top two. These FFA experiences have grown them beyond their school years! Involvement of parents, community members and teachers in the lives of our students is of the utmost priority for us. We know that the more caring individuals involved in our students lives the more successful they will be, with that in mind we encourage not only our staff, but our parents to be involved in ATP (Action Team Partnership). Meetings are monthly to plan academic related and fun activities for our school community. Please contact Linda Klavano, lklavano@psd1.org if you are interested! 2012-13 school year here we come, ready or not! Warmest regards, Ms. Rasmussen |
