Principal Lechelt-PolsterWelcome to Edwin Markham Elementary, home of the Roadrunners! I am honored to continue working with students, parents, and staff in this exceptional learning community! My role as principal is to support a learning environment that provides all students with the richest opportunities possible to ensure maximum growth and achievement.

Our staff is made up of highly motivated and dedicated professional who are focused on learning for all students.  We have the finest teachers and they understand the expectations for students at the grade level(s) they teach and work to make sure they maximize every minute to focus on student learning.  Our teachers use a variety of instructions strategies to meet a variety of needs of their students.  They are highly trained and continue to learn and grow as professionals by participating in training.  Our support staff is so critical to the success of our students.  From our bus drivers, food service workers, and custodians to our paraeducators, clerks and secretary you will find staff dedicated supporting a safe and positive learning experience for all students.  We are fortunate to offer great enrichment opportunities with band, choir, and orchestra.  Additionally, we work to provide students with support when they need it through one on one tutoring and small group tutoring.

Our school continues to grow and this year we have 350 students and their families!  One of the things we are most proud of is our parent and community involvement.  We have two very active parent advocacy groups—PALS (Parents and Leaders for Students) and ATP (Action Teams for Partnership).  Our PALS group supports our students and staff with materials and other resources to complement what the school already has available.  PALS sponsors several fun events during the year including the fall carnival and a bingo night and dessert auction.  Our ATP is similar to the PALS group, but takes on additional support for co-coordinating academic events such as family literacy night, family math night, and career day.

At the heart of everything we do at Edwin Markham is our students.  Our students are a critical partner with staff and parents to make our school the great place that it is!  We are fortunate to have incredible students who make good choices and are responsible and respectful.
