• About Virtual New Horizons High School

The Virtual New Horizons High School is a part of Pasco School Districts Digital Learning Academy, and offers students in grades 9 - 12 a safe online learning environment that values diversity and individuality. The program prepares students with academic, social-emotional learning and self-efficacy skills to meet the challenges of the future. Challenges are supported and creativity is encouraged as we strive to meet each individual student’s needs and ensure they are college and career ready.

    How Our Students Learn
    Students learn online by:

    • attending four virtual class periods
    • meeting with their subject area/course teacher daily
    • attending an advisory period once a week
    • 80% synchronous, 20% asynchronous learning
    • a quarter system

Asynchronous Learning = Learning can take place at any time. Students can work at the times that they are most alert and when it best fits their unique schedules.

Synchronous Learning = Learning takes place at a specific time. Only part of the day is scheduled and the rest of the day is flexible for you to schedule in your own individualized way.
