    Video/Call Conferencing Options

    Pasco has three options available for its staff to conduct video conferencing. Benefits and training resources are listed for each of the platforms, the platform used comes down to personal preference. Whatever platform you choose, do not post meeting links onto a public platform (eg. website), instead share links through email, Teams, Dojo, etc.

    • Microsoft Teams Call feature
      • Benefits
        • Good for teacher to student conferencing, especially at the secondary level
        • Convenient for classrooms already using Microsoft Teams, can send invites directly from Teams
        • Integrated with Microsoft Outlook, can send invites to colleagues and students from the calendar function in Outlook
        • Students can join from a web browser
        • Since Teams Call is part of Microsoft Office 365, students already have an account
      • Training
    • Skype for Business
      • Benefits
        • Good for staff to staff conferencing. Students don't have Skype installed on their laptops, so it's not recommended for teacher to student conferences
        • Integrated with Microsoft Outlook, can send invites to colleagues and students from the calendar function in Outlook
        • Bare-bones, basic interface makes navigating easy
      • Training
        • Working with Skype for Business How-To (PDF)
    • Zoom
      • Benefits
        • Good for teacher to student conferencing, especially at the elementary level where students have less exposure to Teams
        • Good if classroom heavily relies on video
        • Students can join from a web browser
        • Contains a simple interface and is easy to join as an attendee
        • Students can join as guest, do not encourage students to create an account
      • Training
        • The district has created Zoom accounts for all teachers, click HERE for direction on how to enable it.

    Online Learning Opportunities for Clock Hours

    PSD offers clock hours for completed online courses in the Microsoft Educator Community  (MEC). The MEC has several self-directed, self-paced courses; check out the list of courses available for clock hours in the link below.  Once you complete the course, print the certificate and turn it into Professional Development along with the completed clock hour form.
