Celebrating the Richard L. Lenhart Act: A Milestone in Student Safety

Pasco School District (PSD) hosted a momentous event, the Richard L. Lenhart Act Celebration, on Thursday, May 16th, from 10:00 to 11:30 am at the Richard L. Lenhart Transportation Building located at 3410 N. Stearman Ave., Pasco. The occasion honored the passing of the Richard L. Lenhart Act, a significant legislative achievement aimed at enhancing student safety.

Distinguished invitees confirmed to attend include representatives from the PSD Transportation Department, Nancy Lenhart and her family, Teamsters, PSD Superintendents & Board Members, members of the Pasco Police Department, as well as various elected officials from the 8th, 15th, and 16th Legislative Districts.

The celebration featured a program commemorating the Richard L. Lenhart Act, which passed in March 2024, and its implications for student safety. Speakers highlighted the significance of the Richard L. Lenhart Act, which designates trespassing on school buses as a gross misdemeanor in Washington state. Lawmakers who sponsored and supported the bill, including representatives from the 8th, 15th, and 16th Legislative Districts, were in attendance.
