Four Pasco Schools Recognized for Closing Opportunity Gaps and Student Growth

Pasco School District is proud to announce that four district schools have been recognized through the 2025 Washington School Recognition Program for their outstanding efforts in student achievement, growth, and closing opportunity gaps during the 2023–2024 school year.

The following Pasco schools earned honors based on data from the Washington School Improvement Framework:

  • Edwin Markham Elementary – Recognized for Growth for low-income students
  • McLoughlin Middle School – Recognized for Growth for students in one or more racial or ethnic groups
  • Rosalind Franklin STEM Elementary – Recognized for Closing Gaps – Targeted
  • Three Rivers Elementary – Recognized for Closing Gaps – Targeted

Each of these schools will receive a banner from the State Board of Education to display in their buildings as a symbol of their achievement and commitment to student success.

“This recognition reflects the hard work, dedication, and student-centered focus of our teachers, staff, and administrators,” said Superintendent Michelle Whitney. “We are incredibly proud of the progress these schools have made and the meaningful difference they are making in the lives of our students.”

The Washington School Recognition Program is a collaborative effort between the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), State Board of Education (SBE), and the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee (EOGOAC). Schools are recognized in three categories: Closing Gaps, Growth, and Achievement.

"Achieving this honor is no small feat,” said Bill Kallappa, chair of the State Board of Education. “It takes a team of dedicated educators and administrators working together to ensure that their students have the knowledge they need to be successful. And it takes great students coming to school every day ready to learn.”

Pasco School District congratulates these four schools and their communities for this well-deserved recognition.
