Pasco High’s Melissa Abel Named 2025 School Nurse of the Year
Pasco School District is proud to announce that Melissa Abel, school nurse at Pasco High School, has been named the 2025 School Nurse of the Year by the School Nurse Organization of Washington (SNOW).
This prestigious statewide honor recognizes Melissa’s exceptional commitment to student health, clinical excellence, and leadership in school nursing. Each day at Pasco High, she brings care, compassion, and deep expertise to her work—helping students overcome health challenges so they can focus on learning and success.
“This is not only a personal achievement for Melissa but a proud moment for our entire district,” said Billie Jo Wensveen, PSD Health Services Coordinator.
Melissa will be formally recognized at the SNOW Fall Conference and the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) Conference in June. As part of the honor, she will also receive a $500 scholarship to support her attendance at the national conference.
The work Melissa and her fellow school nurses do is critical to student well-being and academic achievement. These vital health services are made possible in part by local levy funding, which supports school nurses and health programs across Pasco.
Please join us in congratulating Nurse Abel on this incredible accomplishment. Her dedication makes a lasting impact on students, families, and the entire Pasco community.
