Pasco School District Celebrates Future Teacher Signing Event
Pasco School District proudly hosted its Future Teacher Signing Event, recognizing high school students from Chiawana, Delta, and Pasco High Schools who have committed to pursuing careers in education.
Surrounded by families, mentors, and school leaders, these students signed ceremonial letters of intent with Superintendent Michelle Whitney, symbolizing their pledge to return to Pasco one day—not as students, but as teachers prepared to lead and inspire the next generation.
The event also honored students enrolled in the WSU Tri-Cities Teaching Bridge Program, which allows high school students to begin college-level coursework in education while still completing their high school diplomas.
“This event represents more than a career milestone—it’s a promise to invest in the next generation of educators,” said Katie Engel, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Assistant Director for the district. “We are growing our own future teachers, and we couldn’t be more proud.”
The Teaching Academy and Teaching Bridge programs are part of PSD’s broader efforts to create career-connected learning opportunities that align with workforce needs in the community. By nurturing aspiring educators early, the district is helping ensure a strong, diverse, and passionate future teaching force—right here in Pasco.
The future is bright—and it’s coming back to Pasco.
