8101 - Student Walking Distances Policy

Policy 8101

NONINSTRUCTIONAL OPERATIONS

Student Walking DistancesA student may be provided transportation when his or her residence is beyond one radius mile of the school to which the student is assigned.  A handicapped student who is unable to walk or would not be able to provide for his or her own welfare while walking to school shall be provided transportation services regardless of the distance from home to school.

Each year the superintendent or designee shall present to the board for informational purposes the names of students who are transported who live within the minimum distance of their schools and for whom there appears sufficient justification for the district to provide transportation.
