School Board

The Pasco School District Board of Directors is a five-member team of elected community leaders dedicated to ensuring high-quality public education for all students in our district. The board plays a vital role in setting the vision, policy, and strategic direction for Pasco schools and is committed to student success, equity, and transparency.

What the Board Does

The Board’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Hiring and evaluating the superintendent, who oversees daily operations

  • Adopting the district’s annual budget and overseeing financial stewardship

  • Establishing and approving policies that guide district operations

  • Setting and monitoring district goals and priorities

  • Approving levies and bond measures to meet facility and funding needs

  • Representing the community’s voice in public education

  • Advocating for strong educational outcomes for every student

While the board provides leadership and accountability, it does not manage the day-to-day functions of schools (student discipline, staffing, or daily school management). That responsibility lies with the superintendent and district staff.

Key Governance Roles

The Pasco School Board provides leadership across four foundational areas:

  • Vision: Establishing a clear direction for student achievement and district priorities

  • Structure: Creating effective policies and supporting the district’s operational framework

  • Accountability: Monitoring progress toward goals and ensuring responsible use of resources

  • Advocacy: Championing the needs of students, families, and schools in the broader community

Additionally, the board serves a legal role as the final decision-maker for certain appeals brought under state or federal law, contracts, or district policies.

Community Engagement

Board members actively engage with families, staff, and community members to better understand the needs of the district. They make decisions in public meetings, ensuring openness, transparency, and accessibility.

Together, the Pasco School Board works to create a strong, student-centered public education system—where every child is known by name, strength, and need.
