Our goal is to provide support and financial guidance to school administration, staff, and community members in meeting the academic and extracurricular needs of our students. We value every dollar and acknowledge and thank our community for the funding public education with their tax dollars collected through bonds and levies. We promote fiscal responsibility through accurate accounting and reporting, asset protection, system optimization, quality procurement, sound cash management, and transparency.
In supporting district operations, the Finance Department performs the following major functions:
- Maintain the districts five funds (General, Capital Projects, Debt Service, Transportation Vehicle, and Associated Student Body) in accordance with Local, State, and Federal requirements and best practices
- Coordinate the development of the district’s annual budget including forecasting enrollment, revenues, and expenditures for all five funds
- Record district financial transactions in accordance with Federal, State, and district regulations
- Prepare monthly financial reports
- Oversee receipts and deposit of cash throughout the district
- Manage investment transactions
- Manage community approved bonds and levies
- Maintain the district’s outstanding debts in accordance with Federal, State, and Local requirements
- Provide fiscal reporting and other financial analysis and information to district staff, the community, and State and Federal agencies
- Provide grant accounting and reporting
- Issue payments to suppliers for goods and services and to employees for reimbursement of travel and expense reimbursements
- Issue invoices to various organizations for the collection of revenues
- Serve as the district liaison to the Washington State Auditor’s Office and coordinates annual Financial Statement, Accountability, and Federal audits
- Collect and report student enrollment information to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction
- Manage district purchasing in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements
