Continuum of Services
The Pasco School District ensures a range of alternative placements for special education services, accommodating students aged three to twenty-one. Placements prioritize instruction within general education classes. We may provide supplementary services, including resource rooms and itinerant instruction, in conjunction with general education placements. Special education classroom settings, homebound, or hospital instruction are considered as needed based on disability.
Our commitment to inclusionary practices emphasizes educating students alongside non-disabled peers in their neighborhood school whenever possible. Over 85% of students receive special education services within their neighborhood school. However, in cases where unique disability-related needs warrant it, special education settings may be considered. We do not use disability categories to predefine or require placements. All students with disabilities have access to a full continuum of services. Approximately 15% of our students benefit from specialized programs.
