Dear Mark Twain Families:
The school year has come to an end. Thank you to everyone for your continued commitment to your child’s education. It is always amazing to look back at where your child started the year and to now look at their accomplishments.
This year we have had an outstanding commitment of parents and community members helping in a variety of ways. Our PTO has been involved throughout the year providing activities and fundraising that benefit all students. Reading has been a yearlong goal. In support of this goal, the PTO and ATP started a Friday noon-time Lunch Buddy Reading program. For 15 weeks, our 105 volunteers provided 448 volunteer hours focused on reading. These are some amazing numbers, but more importantly they helped to create some wonderful memories and help kids learn to LOVE reading! One of PTOs accomplishment was purchasing the new playground toy on the intermediate playground! Families and students have been enjoying the new play area since installation in April. Thank you to all families for helping to make this happen! PTO also coordinated the Fall Harvest Carnival, Santa Breakfast & Auction, helped with Frontier Day, provided dinner for teachers during conferences, honored teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week and coordinated “Trash to Treasure” book fair. Thank you to all parents for your continued support! If you are interested in being a part of this great parent group, please stop by and check out the PTO bulletin board in the main office area.
Our ATP (Action Team for Partnership) also provided and supported many school and family activities. Together our Co-Chairs Galicia Virgen and Mrs. Noble used their creativity, dedication and organization to provide activities that make a difference. They implemented the “W.A.T.C.H Dog Program”, P.R.O.M.I.S.E Academy, and “Read for the Record”. This year our ATP business partnerships were Ryan Brault from Edward Jones Financial in Pasco and Cathedral of Joy. They could be seen at almost every activity this year. Thank you for dedicating your time and partnership to Mark Twain Elementary!
Thank you for sharing your child with us during the 2009-2010 school year. Have a wonderful summer. Remember to read and continue learning through your own family activities.
Please mark your calendars for the back to school “MEET & GREET” on Thursday, August 26th beginning at 6:00 PM. Come find your classroom and meet your teacher. We will see all students on Monday, August 30th, 2010 for the first day of school!
