Parent Involvement Plan
Successful schools share many common characteristics that, if in existence, help to ensure student achievement. One of those key characteristics sited in the research The Schooling Practices That Matter Most by Kathleen Cotton of the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory is a high level of parent and community involvement. She states “parent involvement makes an enormous positive difference in children’s school performance.”
The Pasco School District's parent involvement is well-developed and successful at the district and building levels. Parent involvement in the district is a priority. Existing components provide the foundation for the district involvement policy.
Edwin Markham has the following key components:
1. Parent Involvement Policy
2. Parent/Student/Teacher Compact
3. Schoolwide Committee, that includes parents, to review and provide input into the schoolwide plan
