Welcome Grizzlies!

Starting a new school year is always exciting but starting the 2020-2021 school year is extra special because we will be opening Ray Reynolds Middle School together.

I am honored to serve you as the principal of Ray Reynolds Middle School. I started my career in 2005 as a 7th grade language arts and history teacher. I became a teacher because of the amazing educators who believed in me and taught me to believe in myself. I am the first person in my family to go to and graduate from college, so I understand the transformative power of learning. I have been an administrator for seven years, which has provided me with a variety of experiences in all content areas. Every day I try my best to live my why, to support and empower all staff and students to achieve their goals and dreams.

We are very fortunate to have Barbara Pierce, Chad Haertling, and Mandy Cathey as assistant principals. Barbara, Chad, and Mandy are experienced educators and administrators.

Barbara’s why is to provide a safe, encouraging environment for students and staff where each person is treated with compassion and provided the constructs to lift them to their highest potential.  To model kindness, integrity and persistence in providing a quality education so students have choices and security in their future.

Chad’s why is to create an environment where students, families and staff work together so that all students are successful in reaching their full potential in life from what they learn today, then lead tomorrow.  Learning today...Leading tomorrow!

Mandy’s why: She is an educator so that she can help students find their passions, know their strengths and gifts, and develop a vision and plan for the future they want. She is an administrator so that she can help staff members and families create a better future for our youth.

We are dedicated to building a safe environment where everyone feels valued and heard. Together we will foster innovation and creativity to meet the needs of our students. We will support our students’ social and emotional well-being. We will set high expectations and support our students to excel academically. We will help our students create plans for high school and beyond, and so much more.

This is not the way we anticipated ending the 2019-2020 school year, but we will be here to support and empower students and staff as we being the 2020-2021 school year. Together we will create a learning environment that helps everyone succeed at high levels.  Together we will learn from the growth opportunities the spring provided us to create an exemplary middle school. We are Grizzlies!

Sincerely,

Shannon Lockard
