Pasco High School Earns 3rd Consecutive 'School of Distinction' Honor

Thanks to sustained improvement over a five-year period in English language arts, math, and graduation rates, Pasco High School was honored once again with a 2018 School of Distinction award. It’s the third consecutive year that Pasco High has received this prestigious honor.

The award was presented by the Bellevue-based Center for Educational Effectiveness, in partnership with the Association of Education Service Districts, the Association of Washington School Principals, the Washington Association of School Administrators, the Washington State School Directors’ Association, and the Washington State Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Superintendent Darcy Weisner with Educational Service District 123 presented the award to Pasco High teachers and administrators during the District’s Board of Directors meeting on January 22. “This award recognizes student achievement and student growth in English language arts, mathematics, and graduation rates,” Weisner says. “Pasco High has achieved this milestone for three years in a row, and that is worthy of celebration. You are in the top five percent of all schools in the state of Washington”

Pasco High is one of just 20 high schools across the state to earn the School of Distinction award, and it’s the only high school in southeastern Washington to receive the honor. A total of 91 elementary, middle and high schools in Washington were recognized as a School of Distinction in 2018.
