Chiawana Stage Company Presents 'Chicken Bones for the Teenage Soup'
The Chiawana High School Stage Company is proud to present “Chicken Bones for the Teenage Soup,” with performances on May 9-10 and 17-18 at 7 p.m. inside the Black Box Theatre at Chiawana High School.
Unlike the megapopular book series it parodies, “Chicken Bones for the Teenage Soup” is a comic ode to pessimism. In a series of short scenes, diverse characters illustrate various sentimental moments from everyday life, only to be repeatedly crushed by sardonic twists of cruel fate.
The play is written by Alan Haehnel and is a favorite of Todd Westendorf, Chiawana’s Director of Theatre Arts. In fact, the Chiawana Stage Company performed the play at the American High School Theatre Festival as part of the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland in the summer of 2012. The Fringe Festival is the world’s largest and most prestigious arts festival with more than 18,000 different performances of music, theatre, dance, and comedy during its three-week run.
Tickets for the show are available in advance at the Chiawana HS ASB office for $4. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $6. This is a black box theatre production, so seating is limited for each performance.
