Brief Evacuation at Chess Elementary

Students at Chess Elementary were briefly evacuated from the building this morning (6/13) because of a fire alarm.

The alarm went off at 8:40 a.m. and the Pasco Fire Department responded immediately. Firefighters determined the building was safe and there was no danger to students or staff. Students returned to the building a short time later.

PSD maintenance crews determined the fire alarm was triggered by work that electricians were doing in the building. The fire alarm system has been reset and the school has returned to normal operations.
