State Superintendent Reykdal to Speak at 'Language is Power' Conference
Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal will be one of the featured speakers at Pasco School District’s 2nd annual “Language is Power” conference, which will be held August 12-15 at New Horizons High School. The focus of the four-day conference is to provide training and educational strategies for Pasco School District K-12 teachers who work with ELL (English Language Learner) students, to help those students better understand the English language and achieve academic success.
Reykdal will be the keynote speaker during the conference’s morning session on Tuesday, August 13, and will speak to conference attendees at 8:30 a.m. Conference organizers invited Supt. Reykdal to be one of their keynote speakers after hearing him speak about his vision for biliteracy and bilingualism for all Washington students during a bilingual educator conference in New Mexico in 2018.
